Summary: Excellent Accessible Overview for the Beginning Student
Comment: This work is an excellent overview of regression for the beginning student (undergraduate or graduate). It's primarily designed for interpreting regression analyses, rather than actually conducting them yourself, but I found it extremely helpful to read in concert with my graduate course on regression. I'd recommend it for anyone just starting out with regression or for someone who is primarily a reader of regression analyses conducted by others.
I would also highly recommend, Multiple Regression: A Primer by Paul Allison.

The frequent use of linear regression in research causes problems for students who have not studied it before. Research based on the technique can be incomprehensible to beginners.
This book provides a background to the technique. It is not intended to be a substitute for a course or textbook in statistics, but rather a stop-gap for students who encounter empirical work before undertaking a statistics course. It provides a heuristic explanation of the procedures and terms used in regression analysis and has been written at the most elementary level. It assumes a minimal background in mathematics and focuses on the intuitive and verbal interpretation of regression coefficients and the associated statistics and hypothesis tests.
