Summary: This is for my class, so I have to...
Comment: I feel like I am rather taking longer path instead of right well organized one. Well, I am OK with Math person, so it may be good for Math hater.
Anyway, my instructor is nice enough, so overall I satisfied with my class.

Summary: Poor
Comment: As previous reviewers mentioned, there were many errors in this book. Furthermore, it was an extremely unrigorous treatment, with many redundant examples and filler text. It was also scrupulously politically correct, with many pages devoted to "You're not going to fail this course if you're female or a minority". The same tone of self-important liberalism reappears throughout the text.

There are definitely better books out there.

Summary: Poorly written and grossly over-priced
Comment: I had to use this textbook for my Statistics for Pyschology Majors class at UTD. All of the other comments about the errors are true, but I have something else to add: the syntax and examples. I can handle dry reading. I've had to do plenty of it in my major. But much of this book goes beyond dry to just plain unintelligible. I'm not a math dummy. I took three semesters of algebra including College Algebra and got straight A's. A number of people in my class gave up on the book and relied soley on the lectures. My professor told me that she isn't going to use this book next semester.

Reading this book was about as fun as eating a dirt sandwich. This book is an example of the college textbook industry price-gouging people who can least afford their defective products.

Summary: errors
Comment: although this book is not bad and explains statistical concepts in a nice way, the amount of errors this book has is huge.
it feels like the writers of this book wrote it fast cuze the errors are not conceptual - they are numerical.
so for paying so much money for this - i expected more than that.

Summary: Inexcusable!
Comment: I've never come across a textbook with so many mathematical and typographical errors! It was absolutely infuriating! We could never trust what the book gave as a solution to an exercise.

If the authors would fix these errors it would be a decent text.

Editorial Review for Study Guide and Computer Workbook for Statistics for Psychology:

A book that focuses on the logic behind the concepts of statistics for psychology, using definitional formulas rather than emphasizing rote memorization. Clearly written, each procedure is conveyed both numerically and verbally, with many visual examples to illustrate the text. It takes the reader from basic procedures through analysis of variance (ANOVA), and not only teaches statistics, but also prepares the user to read and understand research articles as well. This book is an introduction to statistics for psychology, covering such topics as order in a group of numbers; mean, variance, standard deviation, and Z scores; correlation; prediction; the normal curve, probability, and population versus sample; hypothesis testing; the t test; analysis of variance; chi-square tests; the general linear model; and making sense of advanced statistical procedures in research articles. For statisticians, psychologists and those involved in psychological research in the behavioral and social sciences.
