Summary: For me, a total waste of money!
Comment: I am rather disappointed to have spent this much money on such a poorly edited book! For a puzzle book that "uses logic' to solve the puzzles, there is too much ambiguity in the clues. In corners (or small areas) puzzles #5,9,13,15,19,29,and on and on have more than one solution; one can fill in these boxes any which way and match the clue or clues to the solution. Then there are the printing mistakes that mess up your whole puzzle; e.g.: #27 column 26 the first clue should be 9, not 10; #83 column 18, the first clue should be 4, not 3. In other words, even if you looked up the solution, it would not match the clues given! I guess (pun intended)you get the picture now...
By the way #77 column 9, add 6 not 5 (sorry Phyllis)

Summary: Overpriced
Comment: The grade of paper used in this book is just slightly better than newspaper. Once you do the puzzle on one side of the page, it's hard to do the flip side without making holes in the page. That, coupled with the problem with the missing puzzle pieces and the shortness of the book, make me sorry that I paid $10 for it.

Summary: Some misprints, rough paper
Comment: This book of Hanje puzzles was not as high quality as some that I've done. The paper was rough; there were at least four mis-prints (where the answers in the back of the book didn't match the clues); and the pictures themselves were not particularly charming. HOWEVER, if you love these puzzles--as I do--those faults were easy to overlook.

Summary: Crosspix
Comment: This type of puzzle is one of my favorite things to do but this particular book was poorly edited! There were many errors in the number prompts - some appeared to have been simply cut off in the printing process. I would never try another puzzle book by this author/company. If they cannot insure that the puzzles are properly presented, it is not worth doing the puzzles.

Summary: substandard puzzlecrafting
Comment: As if the typos aren't bad enough, there are several puzzles that don't have unique solutions. For example, in just the first 20 puzzles, one fourth (05, 09, 13, 15 and 19) have areas with more than one solution. You have a 50/50 chance of guessing what the author had in mind.

Still, as someone else said, I'm addicted enough that it's otherwise entertaining. Still, until there is a second edition with the problems corrected, I'd probably not recommend buying it at this price.

Editorial Review for Crosspix: Pixillated Puzzle Madness:

Crosspix puzzles are deceptively simple, very much like sudoku. Through a logical process of elimination and comparison, you use the numbers provided to determine which squares should be filled in. The biggest difference with sudoku being that, when you finish, instead of a grid of numbers, you have a pixillated picture to tell you if you've completed it correctly (as well as an answer key, of course). In the end, if you've completed the puzzle correctly, a picture reveals itself. Animals, sports, holidays, symbols — a surprise is guaranteed behind every grid! Crosspix includes complete instructions as well as an answer guide.
