Chemistry Reviews

Summary: Just what I needed.
Comment: This was exactly what I needed for my general chemistry class, and it was about half the price they were selling it for at the campus bookstore.

Summary: textbooks
Comment: Book condition was as promised. Delivery was very good. Would buy from this vendor again.

Summary: Lacking lots
Comment: This is a college book, so there was no choice in buying it, and if my experience changes over the next semester, I'll edit/add to it.
a) the book is dry and gives simple instructions, while making the exercises much more complex. It would be a better book if the difference between the two was less distant.
b) the website it advertises is HORRIBLE. It's clear that the book was once under HOUGHTEN umbrella of products, but it is no longer. The website that the book is tied to looks like it was created by a 12 year old.

Summary: Awesome.
Comment: I don't know what the other peoples problems are with this book, but it is great, and the online addition was very helpful. I learned chemistry from this book without going to class, and I pulled an A in the class. It teaches you the concepts very easily, and shows step-wise procedures in how to answer problems, and not just in a way that limits your ability to solve, but in a manner that promotes general understanding for how to solve a bunch of problems. Great Book, highly recommended.

Summary: hard to follow...somewhere, I think the author was making a point
Comment: The author is way too long winded and the book is hard to follow. I spent lots of time looking online for other explanations to what I was supposed to get from this book. Whoever wrote that it is more of a collection of chemistry stuff than an explanation of the concepts is completely on target. I found "Chemistry: Concepts and Problems: A Self-Teaching Guide (Wiley Self-Teaching Guides)" a wonderful walk through guide that is very understandable and teaches what this Chemistry book of over 1000 pages, just can't get across. I should mention that the online tutorials were too general to be useful and the site was down for 2 weeks when I started class and now has been moved and it will not allow me to access using the same code as before the transfer to a new site. Tech support was not very helpful and just kept telling me to be patient...for two weeks while they fixed the website....horrible experience.
